Pattern Explanations

Driving/Combo: Maximum trail coverage in a single light.The Driving/Combo pattern is equipped with both Driving (42°) and spot (9°) optics to provide you with a smooth blend of light for both near field applications and distance (Lighting Zone 3)

Wide Driving: BD was the first to develop a pattern specifically for cornering, dust and/or fog conditions. The Wide Driving pattern offers a 42° flattened horizontal beam for the ultimate in comfort lighting. (Lighting Zones 1 & 2)

Spot: A longer and narrower 9° beam focus for illumination further down the trail or road. The Spot pattern is designed to be used in conjunction with additional Wide Driving and/or Driving/Combo beam lights. (Lighting Zone 4 & 5)

Work/Scene: Excellent work light or “scene light” with an extremely smooth 120° circle that projects about 40ft. This pattern is not suitable for driving. (Lighting Zone 7)

Read this for wiring help + lightbar review

This is a review for the lightbar, not the setup and instillation of it, so I still give it a 5 star review because I love the lightbar. The lightbar itself is fantastic! Like some of the other reviews say, it literally turns night into day. The 20k lumens sure light up the trail. Surprisingly, setting it up and mounting it was more difficult. If you are buying this for your Prinsu Pro roof rack, make sure you also buy the mounting feet from Prinsu ($40). I didn’t know I needed this until it arrived and there was no way to mount it. Also, if you are not making your own wiring harness, know that the one that comes with this product has two switches. One switch, the smaller circular one, controls the backlighting. The other one controls the main lights on the lightbar. This makes it so you are either forced to drill a circular hole in your dash or use Velcro to mount it somewhere, otherwise it will just dangle down near your gas pedal. (Another alternative is to wire it to your running lights, but I didn’t do that). The other, main switch does not fit into the blank switch slots in your 4Runner. So if you want to wire the stock switch to an oem style 4Runner switch with backlighting (that you can buy from 4Runnerlifestyle), make sure you find a wiring diagram. The one provided here on the website is confusing. The wiring harness has 3 wires and the switch I bought on this website has 4. It took a whole lot of digging and browsing off road and 4Runner forums to figure this out. If you try to follow the diagram given on this website, it will work, but the backlighting on the switch will stay on, even if the car is off and locks, which obviously doesn’t work because it will drain your battery. I attached photos of how I wired it and what worked for me. Last, there are no instillation directions. It is fairly straight forward, but I’m still disappointed that I had no guidance on mounting and wiring this on a Prinsu Pro. If you take away the setup, I am overall very happy with the product and I would highly recommend. Just make sure you have a fair amount of time to set it up and you have all of the hardware needed.

40” S8 Baja Designs Lightbar/Amber Driving Combo w/Wiring Harness

Very pleased with how the Lightbar looks up on my 4Runner! The only thing I would add is when installing, if you mount it with the cable running down on the driver side of the vehicle, that Baja Designs labels on the front will be upside down. If it bothers you, you can use an Allen wrench to unscrew them and turn them right side up. If not, then it’s still amazing regardless!!! The customer service was amazing and shipping was quick!
