6th Gen 4Runner (First Impression)

We just picked up our all new 4Runner Lifestyle flagship build and we could not be more excited to be one of the first people to test out the new 6th Gen 4Runner. We picked up our 4Runner in Las Vegas and immediately drove it back to our warehouse in Orem, Utah. After driving it 600 miles back home, here are some of our initial thoughts.

2025 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road

While looking for what 4Runner to buy we decided it had to be the TRD Off-Road. The TRD Off-Road trim of the Toyota 4Runner comes from the factory with a rear locker, improved suspension, and blacked out fender flares. We also opted for the premium package with includes upgraded softex seats and a 14" infotainment system.

First Impressions

When we first saw our 6th Gen 4Runner we were very impressed with how the new design looked. This is not our first time seeing the 6th Gen 4Runner but seeing our trim in the all new Ice Cap color made us really excited with everything Toyota did with the redesign.

How Does It Drive?

While driving the all new 4Runner I was most excited about the new powertrain. People will hate it because it is not a V6 but this new turbo inline 4 makes more power than the previous engine did with a lot more low end torque. The transmission is also a massive improvement over the old 5 speed. With 8 gears to choose from the 4Runner never felt like it was hunting for the right gear and it made the drive back from Vegas very comfortable.

Final Thoughts

The all new 6th Gen 4Runner is a huge improvement over the 5th Gen. Reliability concerns are valid but they are valid for any new vehicle. Time will tell if this 4Runner can keep up with the reliability of the 5th Gen but with this new engine and transmission combination, the 6th Gen 4Runner is a great and welcome upgrade to the 4Runner lineup.

I’m getting a 25 4Runner Trailhunter. The stock tires suck. I’m going to buy k03’s to replace them. I know they are 265/70r18’s. I don’t want to trim, remove crash plates, mod yet. What is the largest tire I can put with no rub fully locked? I’ve heard 295/70r18 might rub. The 285 most likely will be a great fit. 275 is the sweet spot or do I just need to stay with the stock size 265…
